The ChargerChums.com Color Code System

The ChargerChums.com Color Code System is a simple way to indicate your willingness, or unwillingness to have a chat with other people while at a Public EV Charging Station.

The idea is simple. Take a colored hook and loop strap and wrap it around the charging cable / handle (near the plug) while you are charging.  See the chart on the left for the various color codes.  We recommend Velcro Brand One-Wrap Straps (see links below), but any 8 inch by 1/2 inch colored hook and loop straps will suffice.

Keep in mind that a Red strap does not necessarily mean that person is antisocial. It could simply mean that they have work that they have to do, need to nap, need to eat, are not feeling well and don't want to spread whatever they have, watching a movie, or any number of reasons. Even a very social person who displays a Green strap 95% of the time, probably puts out the Red strap 5% of the time for one of the reasons above, so please respect the Red strap, and do not look at it as a negative.

A Yellow strap, indicating that you are local to the area, should be used in conjunction with a Green strap so that it is clear that you are both willing to chat, and have local knowledge.

If you are at a charging station that has a restaurant, especially a fast food one, and you are going to dine-in while you are charging, but you are still up for a chat, leave your green strap on your charger plug like normal, but also put another green strap on the edge of your table.  This will indicate that you are the one who is charging and up for a chat.

That's pretty much it, unless of course you are also looking to have some fun - then check out ChargerChums - The Game from the menu above,.
